Project Hiu is an incredible shark conservation initiative run by Madison 'Pip' Stewart on the island of Maringkik, which lies off the larger island of Lombok, Indonesia. By converting from shark fishing to eco-tourism, artisanal fishermen from the island have greatly improved their livelihoods, safety and standard of living. As a result of the project, the local school now has clean drinking water and toilet facilities, notebooks, school supplies and sporting equipment.
Conservation initiatives like this truly celebrate humanity and our place on planet Earth, and demonstrate the need for partnerships that benefit both people and local ecosystems. I am proud to support this initiative and a portion of all profits from the purchase of Project Hiu photos will be donated back to the project.
